96% virus patients successfully recovered: NCOC

29,100 tests carried out during last 24 hours

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday declared that around 96% patients suffering from Covid-19 in the country had successfully recovered.

"290,760 people have recovered so far across Pakistan, making it a significant count," a status report issued by the country’s nerve centre for the containment of coronavirus activities said.

The statistics showed that 95.93% of the patients out of a total of 303,089 cases had recovered, of which 5,936 were active cases.

The report stated that around 29,100 tests were carried out during the last 24 hours and 665 people had tested positive for the virus.

In Sindh, 13,642 tests had been conducted, while in Punjab 9,828; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2,003; Islamabad Capital Territory 2,303, Balochistan 656; Gilgit-Baltistan 310 and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir 355 tests were carried out taking the total number of tests to 3,024,987.

The report noted that of the four individuals who had died of coronavirus, three passed away in hospitals and one at home.

No deaths were reported in Balochistan, K-P, Punjab, Islamabad or AJK.

As of the reporting time, there was "no patient on vent in AJK and Balochistan", whereas 97 of the 1,912 total vents allocated for Covid-19 cases had been occupied across the country.

Out of the total 303,089 cases, 132,591 cases were reported in Sindh; 97,946 in Punjab; 37,140 in KP; 15,984 in ICT; 13,690 in Balochistan, 3,297 in G-B, and 2,441 in AJK.

Out of the total 6,393 deaths, 2,448 were reported in Sindh; 2,220 in Punjab; 1,257 in K-P; 178 in ICT; 145 in Balochistan; 79 in G-B, and 66 in AJK.

The report observed that almost 735 hospitals had been equipped with Covid-19 facilities whereas 995 coronavirus patients had been admitted to the healthcare facilities across the country.
