Trader shot, robbed of Rs1.5m on busy road

The officials says the victim had a shop in Namak Mandi and he was going to a bank to deposit money

A trader was robbed of Rs1.5 million and shot on resistance by armed motorcyclists around midday on Hamilton Road.

The injured trader, Shabbir Ahmed, was rushed to the district headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment.

As the information was received, the Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Muhammad Ahsan Younus and Operations SSP reached the site and took information from the police personnel already present there. They also examined the incident site.

As per the initial investigation, the armed motorcyclists snatched Rs1.5 million from the victim and shot him when he resisted and rode away unchallenged.

The officials said that the victim had a shop in Namak Mandi and he was going to a bank to deposit money when the incident took place.
