ISLAMABAD:

President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Sardar Masood Khan on Saturday appealed to the international community to take the notice of economic genocide in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

President Masood was addressing a reception hosted by Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmad Bhat in honour of newly elected body of National Press Club (NPC).

He vehemently urged the world community to take strict action against the Indian government for looting and plundering the natural resources of IIOJK following the abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A.

"People of IIOJK are being deprived of their natural resources at gunpoint,” he said, “More than nine lakh [900,000] Indian occupying soldiers are committing war crimes in IIOJK and now the same military is backing the demographic change to convert the Muslim majority state into minority with the political motives to crush the ongoing liberation movement in the occupied territory",

President Masood added that world community ought to come forward with comprehensive plan to stop the rising human rights violations in IIOJK and across India where no Hindu, Buddhist or other communities are being harassed except Muslims which shows the rising anti-Muslim sentiment in India which was the worst kind of human rights violation.

The president also paid tributes to valiant Kashmiris and their matchless sacrifices for the noble cause and saying “Kashmiris will be free and for this mission, we have to prepare ourselves as well”.

Chairman JKSM Bhat said that Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) in IIOJK was the first causality of after August 5, 2019 scenario.

Due Covid-19 outbreak financial institutions in the world are giving relief to traders and people but in IIOJK, the only Kashmiri owned bank was being used against them.

"After long discussions and meetings held in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the plan to crush the Kashmiri people economically and to keep them away from the ongoing liberation struggle,” Bhat said.

Bhat further added that India realised that Kashmiri domestic economy was strong which played a pivotal role in the ongoing freedom struggle and to crush it they snatched flag, language, statehood and natural resources from them which is the worst example of economic exploitation on the planet.

Bhat hailed the role of NPC in the ongoing liberation movement and urged the newly elected body to continue the legacy of the besieged valley and promote it though pens and cameras.

President NPC Shakeel Anjum appreciated the role of JKSM chairman for the well-being of the journalist community during the hard days of Covid-19.

He assured that NPC will be the voice of voiceless Kashmiris and in this connection, all available resources would be provided for Kashmir cause.

Secretary-General Anwar Raza said that, “Kashmir runs in our blood and we feel honour that being journalists we are the people who first write and speak and keeps Pakistanis aware about Kashmir. This service of NPC will continue with more vigour and passion.”

Former President NPC Afzal Bhat vowed to continue their support for the ongoing liberation struggle of Kashmir as NPC has been doing it since long. However, he admitted that after August 5,2019 NPC could not play such role that we were expecting however, Bhat assured present NPC body had put Kashmir cause at priority.
