ISLAMABAD:

With the top civic agency of the federal capital close to completing development works in the Park Enclave-I project, it has approved funds worth Rs96 million for providing piped gas to the project.

Officials in the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday said that the authority has approved a plan worth Rs96 million for laying a network of gas pipelines throughout Park Enclave-I.

CDA officials added that these funds are likely to be transferred to the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in the next few days and that the authority’s finance wing has been issued directions in this regard.

Once SNGPL receives the money, it will start work on the project.

Officials said that SNGPL is expected to lay an 800 metre-long 10-inch pipeline to supply gas to the housing scheme. Moreover, a 700 metre-long 8-inch external pipeline will also be laid.

Then, SNGPL will proceed to lay a labyrinth of pipelines covering the entire scheme with pipes of different diameters within the enclave.

‘Constitutional amendment needed to alter CDA board’

Earlier, the SNGPL had estimated that the gas supply project for Park Enclave-I would cost around Rs243.397 million.

However, to lower the overall cost of the project, CDA had requested the PHA to share the cost of the project and held multiple meetings with SNGPL officials in this regard.

The efforts proved successful and the cost of the project was reduced to Rs96 million, a saving of Rs147 million for the authority.

Meanwhile, CDA has also summoned plans from the related departments for landscaping, construction of additional parks, and tree plantation in the enclave.

Earlier in the year, some allottees had started construction on their houses in Park Enclave-I. Subsequently, CDA Chairman Aamer Ali Ahmed had directed officials to focus on providing civic amenities to allottees. In April, security guards had been deployed in the enclave while horticulture work and sanitation services had also commenced.

To facilitate allottees, CDA had set up a facilitation desk in the enclave on the pattern of the one established in Sector G-7. It houses offices for the police, utility services, and CDA inquiry.

Last month, the CDA invited applications for allotment of plots in Park Enclave-III, the latest affordable housing project of the civic authority.

Plots of small sizes such as 4.5 marlas, 9 marlas and 200 marlas are being offered in the project to accommodate low-income citizens.

The last date for application submission has been fixed September 17, 2020, while balloting will be carried out on September 24.
