Recent rains disrupt train operation

Passengers facing hours-long delays in arrival and departure of a number of trains

The recent spell of rains has also disrupted the train operation across the country and passengers are facing hours-long delays in arrival and departure of a number of trains.

According to the divisional commercial officer of the Pakistan Railways, the Jaffarabad Express on Saturday arrived at Lahore from Quetta four hours after its scheduled time.

The Pak Business Express arrived five hours after its scheduled time, while the Shalimar Express and the Pakistan Express were 4 hours behind their schedules.

The Karakoram and the Allama Iqbal Express arrived four hours after their appointed time and the Tezgam, the Shah Hussain Express, the Millat Express and the Karachi Express were three hours behind their schedules.

The official said the Sir Syed Express, the Greenline Express, the Farid Express, the Awam Express and the Khyber Mail Express arrived 2.5 hours after their scheduled time.

On Friday, heavy rain hit Lahore and other parts of Punjab including Gujranwala, Sialkot as well as the federal capital Islamabad. After the rains, the low lying areas of Lahore, Gujranwala and Gujrat were inundated with water. Several areas of Lahore also faced load shedding due to tripping of feeders.
