KARACHI:

The police arrested two more suspects on Saturday, including a young woman, for their alleged involvement in the recent murder of a man in Korangi. Another suspect had been arrested the previous day.

Munib, who had recently gotten married, was shot dead within the limits of the Zaman Town police on Wednesday. CCTV footage of the incident, circulating on social media, showed two motorcyclists snatch his cellphone, gun him down and then escape.

According to the police, his ex-girlfriend and her accomplices were behind the murder, though they had initially believed it to be a robbery incident.

They claimed they had arrested both the motorcyclists, namely Noman and Shahrukh, with the help of the CCTV footage and then, based on their information, a female factory worker as well.

The police stated that the deceased had been in a relationship with the arrested woman, though the woman claimed he had been blackmailing her and she had informed Shahrukh, her friend, about it. They added that Shahrukh and the deceased had been engaged in a dispute in the past as well.

The woman reportedly called the deceased near her residence, where Shahrukh shot him and escaped on a motorcycle driven by Noman.

According to Zaman Town SHO Farooq Sanjrani, Noman claimed he was only accompanying the other suspect and did not know of his intention to kill the deceased.

A case has been registered, while investigation is underway.
