Minimum wage violators penalised

RAWALPINDI:

More than 100 businesses in Rawalpindi were penalised for paying their employees less than the minimum wage set by the government. Rawalpindi Labour Department has issued 115 challans to shopkeepers, hotels, factory owners and others for violating the Minimum Wage Act. According to Rawalpindi Division Labour Department Director Fazal Hussain, challans were submitted to a local court. To a question he said that a violator was generally imposed fine amounting to Rs20,000 and warned of legal action.
