7-year-old girl abducted from Quetta recovered

Kidnapper was arrested in 2015 for abducting another girl

QUETTA:

Additional Inspector General of Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema announced the recovery of a 7-year-old girl Larib, who was abducted from the Railway Colony area of Quetta nine days ago.

"The kidnapper was arrested by conducting investigation in a scientific manner. He had previously been arrested in a similar case," Cheema told a press conference.

The girl's father Syed Abdul Rasool Shah and police officers Wazir Khan Nasir were also present on the occasion.

"If the case was not solved through scientific means then we had more resources through which we could reach the accused," Cheema added.

Giving details of the operation, the IG Police disclosed that, "We formed regular teams to spread information about the abduction on social media and on the streets, which revealed that a shoe polisher would go to neighborhoods on a bicycle, attracting people by making funny noises. After receiving this information, we started searching for information about the shoe polisher and finally caught him after Muharram,"

He added, "The identified connection belongs to a certain cast and a certain area. After identifying the accused, the police teams stayed up all night. In this regard, they also included the Counter Terrorism Department whose locator worked with us.

However, our efforts did not turn out to be successful due to a wrong number in the confiscated mobile phone.

Later, accused Muhammad Yousuf was arrested from Hazarganji whereas the little girl was recovered from another place.”

It is pertinent to mention that the same accused kidnapped a girl in Quetta in 2015. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs50,000 but was later released on bail.

Responding to a question, the Additional IG said, "The operation was carried out jointly by the CTD and our agencies. In this regard, all I know is that the accused was the head of a terrorist group.”
