Indian startup brings back ‘sleep internships’

Interns can earn upto INR100,000 for sleeping 9 hours a day for 100 days

September 01, 2020

The internship of your dreams just might be around the corner - or across the border. Last year, an Indian startup, WakeFit had introduced a 'sleep internship' which would pay interns up to INR100,000 if they sleep for nine hours every day for 100 days! The hit initiative is now back with a bang this year!

According to the Times of India, in 2019, the mattress company had come up with a ‘dreamy’ offer where a person had to sleep at a long stretch of time for a stipulated number of days. For that only, they will be paid INR100,000.

While this would be a much-coveted job opportunity for many, it is not easy to become an intern for this company. They have to really prove to the bosses that sleeping is their topmost priority and that is what they love to do the most.

Previously, around 1.7 lakh participants had signed up for the initiative, out of which 23 interns were able to make it. Now, the company's website shared that they have started the application process for 2021 and have asked for volunteers for their one of a kind internship.

The purpose behind this is to change the mindset towards ‘sleep’ and how it can be productive as well as healthy. While the interns do the needful on the special mattresses provided by them, they will track the sleep patterns of each and every one of them for 100 days.

A set of counselors will also be available as well as sleep trackers will be given to the candidates. The full money will only be given to those who are able to complete this internship.
