LAHORE:

The incumbent government has dedicated adequate resources for the initiative to establish mother and child hospitals in the province, said Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid. She stated this while chairing a high-level meeting at Fatima Jinnah Medical University to review the progress and pace of an ongoing Mother and Child Hospital at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Monday.

Sir Ganga Ram VC Dr Amir Zaman Khan, Sir Ganga Rama Medical Superintendent Dr Ehtesham, Dr Ibrar from Mayo Hospital and representatives of the C&W department were present on the occasion.

The health minister reviewed progress on the ongoing Quaternary Mother and Child facility at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and C&W officials apprised her of the progress made so far. The minister directed the officials to complete construction work within the stipulated deadline.

She said, “With the completion of this project, antenatal and post-natal care and support will be provided to thousands of mothers and children. There will be an advanced parking system.”

Overall the mother and child hospitals will prove to be game changer vis-à-vis mother and child health indicators, she claimed. “No laxity will be tolerated in the construction of these projects. For decades, no previous government took steps to improve the mother and child health.”
