Pakistanis stranded in India to return home on Sept 3

They will be repatriated via Wagah border which was closed following Covid-19 outbreak

As many as 200 Pakistanis stranded in India due to travel restrictions imposed following Covid-19 pandemic are scheduled to return to their country on September 3.

The Wagah-Attari border between the two countries, which had been closed since coronavirus outbreak earlier in March, will be opened exclusively for the repatriation of stranded Pakistanis.

According to the Indian foreign ministry, Pakistanis are stranded in different Indian states including in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, New Delhi and Rajasthan.

The citizens who had been stuck since months are returning to their country due to the efforts of Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

Whereas, no arrangements for the return of stranded Indian nationals or No Obligation Return to India (NORI) visas holders in Pakistan have been made yet.

The Indian government issues NORI visas to Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals who leave their home country and live in India or are married in India but have not yet obtained Indian citizenship.
