Relief and rescue efforts continue in flood-hit areas of Karachi by Pakistan Army and Navy teams following unprecedented rainfall in the metropolis on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement on Saturday said that the army engineers have cleared the COD underpass at the juncture of Sharea Faisal and Rashid Minhas for traffic which was submerged with the rain water.

Work to drain the water from KPT underpass situated in the Karachi’s upscale neighbourhood Clifton is in progress, it said till the filing of this story.

The army relief teams are also providing basic commodities including ration and cooked meal to the people in the provincial capital’s worst-hit areas.

Dewatering at multiple locations continue to ensure civic facilities as army mobile recovery vehicles are deployed at various choke points to shift vehicles struck in flood to keep flow of traffic, the military’s media wing said.

32 emergency medical and 56 relief camps established in coordination with civil administration are busy in helping people in distress in various parts of Karachi, it added.

Three army field medical facilities have been established at Qayyumabad, Sarjani Town and Sadi Town of the metropolis whereas army doctors and paramedics providing immediate emergency medical care to flood victims, the official statement said.
