Two out of the five new born girls died during delivery but the remaining three are in good health.
“We regret that we couldn’t save all of the girls but the two that died were extremely underweight. One was barely three pounds and the other was 3-and-a-half pounds.
They also had underdeveloped lungs so they did not survive,” said the obstetrician on duty Dr Amna Khan. A nurse at the hospital said that they had distributed sweets in the entire hospital after birth of the girls.
The mother and the triplets are both in stable condition.
“I am glad my wife is alright and I have three daughters. I have prayed for the souls of the two that died but I am grateful for this blessing,” said Bhatti.
“Bhatti said that he and his wife did not know she was pregnant with five girls.
We only got an ultrasound done recently and when the doctors found out she was carrying five girls they admitted her to the hospital for her delivery as week in advance,” he added.
Hospital nurses said that the mother and children were being looked after. “The girls are still in incubators because they are a bit underweight but they are stable. We hope we will be able to release them from the hospital in less than a week,” Dr Khan said. PPI
