Sindh is currently in throws of what many are calling the worst spell of monsoon in the last 90 years. The torrential rains have brought Karachi to its knees and practically each and every one of its residents is fervently hoping for the weather to get better soon.
The troublesome situation has prompted many a local celebrities to share emphatic posts for their fellow countrymen. Ayesha Omar, Asim Jofa and Shaniera Akram, for instance, expressed disbelief at the current state of the city. Urwa Hocane, however, had different thoughts.
The Rangreza star took to Twitter on Thursday, calling people of Karachi irresponsible and asking them stop complaining. She wrote, "No doubt the government didn’t care about the city but did we? Time to stop complaining and do something on our own and fix at least our own colony issues in Karachi! We can’t even stop throwing the garbage everywhere we like. The government doesn’t have a magic wand! It’s the people who have to work hand in hand with the government.”

Hocane added, "How many of you can come up with a solution? Why don’t we start somewhere? Sab kuch government ka kaam nahi hota. Khud bhi kuch sochein, haath pe haath rakh k baithne ke ilawa (You should be doing more than just sitting idle).”

Since then, many have been calling out the actor for her stance on the matter. Some even opined it is not the people's job to fix the drainage system in Karachi. "Paying excessive amounts of taxes, yet facing power shortages, no water, no gas, terrible infrastructure, should be enough suffering for the people who get their hopes up each time a lying politician comes to steal votes, and then forgets Karachi’s existence. Please educate yourself," A user shared.
Another one lashed out, "If one more privileged person says we can't stop throwing garbage, I will riot. I know you mean well and probably thought this was very smart but please shut up. Stop defending corrupt politicians sitting on heaps of wealth. Stop shifting blame. There is no one to blame other than the govt," shared another user.
