The provincial government on Wednesday sanctioned 21 uplift schemes in the settled and merged tribal areas worth Rs19.97 billion.
The projects are aimed at improving relief and rehabilitation facilities, health, education and administrative sectors in the province.
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) met on Wednesday with Additional Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan in the chair.
The forum considered 24 projects related to the agriculture, forestry, multi-sectoral development, relief and rehabilitation, water, home, roads, health, auqaf, the board of revenue and urban development sectors.
Of these, three projects were deferred and sent to their respective departments for rectification and rationalisation. The rest were approved, worth Rs19.97 billion.
The forum approved a stopgap working arrangement for the Torkham Border, allowing it to work round the clock through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
In the agriculture sector, a project for integrated livestock development in the merged areas under the Accelerated Implementation Programme (AIP) was approved.
Among uplift schemes sanctioned for the multi-sectoral development sector, a sustainable development goals (SDGs) unit in the province was approved. It will be built with assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Half of it will be funded locally and the remaining half will have foreign support.
The monitoring and evaluation system will be extended to the merged districts while the establishment and functioning of an AIP unit were also okayed.
