QUETTA:

Balochistan government under the leadership of Chief Minister Jam Kamal has decided to computerise land records.

Senior Member Board of Revenue Qamar Masood stated that computerisation of land records will not only help in upgrading data but will also maintain transparency in land affairs.

He expressed these views during a meeting on digitisation of land records. Secretary Local Government Saleh Nasir, Secretary Planning Ghulam Farooq, Senior Secretary Revenue Javed Rahim, Director General QDA, Additional Secretary C&W, Arshad Iqbal, Director Server of Pakistan and other officials were present in the meeting.

Computerisation of land records would help in acquiring land for new sectors in Balochistan as well as accurate determination of built-up property.

"Under this project, land in Balochistan would be digitised after which the complete land data would be in possession of the provincial revenue Department."

Masood added that the initiative would also help in dealing with land disputes.

Commenting on the use of Cadastral Map, Masood said, “by using this modern technology, office work can be handled in less time while digitisation of revenue records available with the Board of Revenue can also be used to prevent record alteration and forgery.

Following the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Survey of Pakistan had launched a project at a cost of Rs1.954 billion entitled ‘Reform and Digitisation of Redistral Maps’ that would be implemented in Balochistan as well."
