Pre-medical students, who have completed their A-levels and intermediate, staged a protest outside the head office of the apex regulator of medical education in the country, demanding that the date for entry tests to medical colleges should be pushed back while the admissions criteria should be changed.
Dozens of pre-medical students from different colleges, including members of the Doctors Wake-up Movement (DWM-Pakistan) and other student organisations participated in the protest.
DWM’s Sultan Salahuddin demanded the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) change the admission criteria of holding the MDCAT and the exam conducted by ETEA, with the entry test given a weightage of 70%, up from 50% previously.
