Cops arrested over custodial death

Two assistant sub-inspectors (ASI) and five constables were booked and arrested on Tuesday over the death of a Faisalabad resident in police custody in Sukkur. The deceased, Aijaz Arain, was allegedly killed in custody at the Sultanpur police station. Sukkur SSP Irfan Samo had taken notice of the incident and ordered the arrests of all the policemen on duty at the police station at the time of Arain's death. The police officials, including ASI Gul Hassan Seliro, ASI Ghulam Mustafa Mirani, head constable Darghah Dino, constables Naseer, Yaqoob and others, were booked and arrested for their alleged involvement in the case.

Girl killed for 'honour'

A teenaged girl was shot and killed on the pretext of honour in Jeeando Chachar village near Adilpur, Ghotki district, on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as 19-year-old Ameer Zadi. The police have arrested a suspect and initiated further investigation into the incident.
