Cops find strangled body of woman at hotel
The strangled body of a woman was found late Monday night in a hotel room near Saddar Passport Office.
The deceased, 40-year-old R*, hailed from Faisalabad, and had reached the hotel on August 23 accompanied by another woman, hotel records revealed.
On Monday night, the police received a complaint by the hotel management and found room 204 at the hotel bolted from within. Upon breaking in, the cops found the woman's hanging body.
The deceased was shifted to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital after preliminary investigations, and then to Edhi morgue at Sohrab Goth due to the non-availability of a female medico-legal officer at the hospital. Later, on Tuesday morning, the body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, a duty officer at Preedy police station, Tufail Ahmed, provided details of the victim and the incident.
The woman who had accompanied R was denied a room at the hotel in the absence of her CNIC and she allegedly went back to Orangi Town to stay with relatives. She has been called in for questioning by the police.
Meanwhile, R's husband has been informed of his wife's demise by the police, who await the post-mortem report and his arrival from Faisalabad before proceeding with further investigation.
