Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing has renewed commitment to multi-billion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), while ensuring that people of both countries will be benefited from the joint venture.

He made the remarks on Saturday while speaking to CPEC Authority Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa in his office in Islamabad.

The CPEC Authority chairman said in a tweet that Yao Jing on behalf of the Chinese government paid gratitude to the Pakistan government “for an accelerated momentum and greater focus on CPEC”.

The envoy reaffirmed commitment to add value to CPEC and bring dividends to the people of two countries, he added.

A day earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that as a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the CPEC was of great importance to promoting in-depth development of the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership and forging a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

Xi, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks in a verbal message to Pakistani President Arif Alvi.

Xi said he appreciated the fact that Alvi sent a congratulatory letter to the opening of the Second Conference of the CPEC Political Parties Joint Consultation Mechanism, which fully demonstrated that Alvi attached great importance to and supported the China-Pakistan relationship and construction of the CPEC.
