A police inspector and two others were arrested for allegedly beating a doctor and a security guard, as well as breaking hospital equipment at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Khairpur, on the orders of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday.

The CM had taken notice of the incident and directed Sindh IGP Mushtaq Mahar to take action against the culprits and report to him.

According to Mahar's report, Zahid Panhwar, of the Naushero Feroze police, had asked GIMS executive director Dr Rahim Bux Bhatti to issue a no-objection certificate for his brother, Dr Pervez Panhwar, in order to transfer him from Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, to GIMS.

When Dr Bhatti refused, Zahid and two others, identified as Mumtaz Ali Junejo and Lala Faraz Memon, arrived at the hospital and beat up a doctor and a guard, while also breaking items.
