Punjab minister awards healthcare professionals

Dr Yasmin Rashid salutes their selfless service to mankind

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid gave awards to doctors, nurses and paramedical staff serving the coronavirus patients at the Children’s Hospital on Thursday.

“These awards are in no way are a substitute for the selfless service of these people,” she underscored.

Addressing the participants, Dr Rashid said she saluted the healthcare workers who served the Covid-19 patients and risked their own lives while helping others recover.

“Our doctors, nurses and hospital staff rendered enormous services during these troubled times as the virus played havoc across the globe. They even sacrificed their own lives to save thousands of people inflicted with the deadly disease,” the health minister added.

She lamented that the last government had not developed any system to deal with epidemics and crises.

The health minister highlighted that the current government upgraded the capacity of all the hospitals, “Today we have 14 BSL-3 Labs in Punjab”.

Children’s Hospital Dean Professor Masood Sadiq thanked the health minister for recognizing the efforts of the health professionals and appreciated the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff for their tireless efforts.

MD Professor Mohammad Saleem, Professor Mehmud Shaukat, Professor Sajid Maqbool, Dr Junaid Rashid, Dr Abid Qureshi, faculty members and other staff members were also present during the award ceremony.
