The victims of an allegedly fraud private housing scheme staged a protest demonstration outside the office of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Lahore on Wednesday.
Hundreds of protestors gathered outside the regional office of national anti-graft watchdog against the Grand Avenue Housing Scheme administration. The owner of the housing scheme, Riaz Ahmad Chauhan, had reportedly embezzled over Rs2.5 billion from public and was in custody of NAB.
The accused had launched the scheme in 2012 at Ferozepur Road and got approved only 62 kanals of land from TMA. He did not get the society approved from LDA. However, he had sold a land up to 4,000 kanals to general public using the company name of WESTA developers.
NAB complaint cell had received over 200 complaints against the accused. Lahore NAB DG Saleem Shahzad took notice of the protest. The accused in the case had been arrested by NAB. He will be produced before an accountability court for physical remand.
