Shopping bags banned in Multan

Decision comes following LHC order

MULTAN:

The environment department imposed a ban on shopping bag usage in the district.

The directives were issued in an official letter received from Environment Department deputy director’s office on Tuesday. The letter stated that the use of shopping bags was banned following the order of the Lahore High Court and environment department was directed to implement the direction in letter and spirit. Following which it was instructed that shopping bags should stop being used across the district.

A lawful action would be taken against public stores, shops and other places whose owners or proprietors would be found consuming plastic material such as shopping bags, reads the letter.
