Visiting the Sindh government’s hospital in Landhi on Monday, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho administered polio drops to children and emphasised the importance of immunisation in protecting against childhood diseases. “Two drops of the polio vaccine should be given to every child during the ongoing polio vaccination campaign and doctors must ensure the same during routine immunisation,” said the minister, adding that children must receive life-saving vaccines to protect them from diseases such as measles, typhoid and polio, among others. “This is what we need to ensure a healthy future for Pakistan’s children,” she added. Landhi’s union council-2 is one of the eight high-risk UCs for polio in Karachi, as well as the only UC in the city that has reported a polio case so far in the current year.
