Minor girl brutally assaulted, murdered in Nowshera

In yet another horrific incident, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Nowshera district on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the limits of Risalpur police station. Police informed that the minor girl identified as Samia was sexually assaulted near the Rashakai area of the district. She was murdered by smashing her head and face with a stone on Saturday night, they added.

The girl had gone missing and when she did not return home, locals made announcements through loud speakers, asking for her whereabouts.

The locals then began a search and found her body wrapped in a bag in a nearby area. Police said the investigation is underway and so far no arrests have been made.

The girl’s body was sent to the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar for postmortem to ascertain rape, injuries and cause of death. Initial reports have confirmed that the minor girl was raped and then killed with a stone.

The deceased’s father Imran Khan has registered a case against unidentified people while police have formed a three-member investigation team.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) chief minister for Information and Local Government Kamran Bangash in a statement on Sunday said that the Nowshera police have started an investigation into the rape and murder of the minor girl. Police are conducting raids to apprehend the suspects involved. He assured the victim's family would be provided justice.

Meanwhile, a teenage Afghan national was tortured to death by his teacher at a madrassa in the provincial capital.

The incident occurred in Dir Colony area in the precincts of Yakatoot police station.

DSP Ikhtraz Khan told The Express Tribune that the suspect Qudratullah was caught red handed while burying a body in the Urmar area.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is also a cousin of the deceased teenager identified as Muslehuddin. The deceased had come from Afghanistan around six months ago for studying in the madrassa.

The police official further said the victim was tortured to death and later the suspect strangled him to make it look like a suicide. A postmortem would be conducted of the body to ascertain cause of death.

The suspect has also been charged under the foreign act for staying illegally in the country, the police added.

Family of the deceased has been informed which will arrive in few days to collect the body.
