PESHAWAR:

The provincial government has made Covid-19 test mandatory for patients before surgeries in government hospitals of the province.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Department in a notification on Saturday said that coronavirus test for patients before their surgeries is mandatory.

A source at the K-P Health Department familiar with the development said the decision was taken after four out of five patients tested positive for the virus on the first day of reopening of OPDs at the Ayub Medical Complex (AMC). The OPDs were reopened after a hiatus of four months. The patients, the source said, were admitted for ENT surgeries.

At present the province is conducting 8,000 coronavirus tests daily.
