Minor among five killed in accidents

Deceased include a couple and their son while the injured include three siblings

FAISALABAD:

At least five people including a minor were killed in separate accidents in the city on Saturday. Police officials said that in the first incident, four people including a couple and their son were killed while three siblings were injured when a wagon collided with a trolley on the motorway.

Rescue 1122 personnel shifted them to a hospital after giving them first aid treatment. Motorway police handed over the four bodies to Saddar Sammundri after taking necessary action. The accident happened when the driver fell asleep.

According to the details, the driver of a wagon carrying a family was heading from Karachi to Lahore when the driver fell asleep. As a result, the car collided head on with a trolley near Saddar Sammundri police station.

Consequently, Shakir, 60 son of Baqir Hussain, his wife Shahida Bibi, 50, Ahsan, 30, son of Shakir and Murtaza, 10, son of Nasir were killed on the spot. The injured included Atifa, 17, Masooma, 18, and Tauqeer, all children of Nasir.

Upon receiving the report of the accident, the Motorway Police and Rescue 1122 personnel reached the spot.

They shifted the four bodies after cutting the roof of the wagon and handed them over to the police.

The injured were taken to Sammundri hospital after receiving medical treatment. Saddar Sammundri police reached the spot and handed over the bodies of the deceased to their heirs after taking necessary action.

According to the motorway police, the accident happened due to the driver falling asleep.

In the second incident, a man was killed while five others sustained injuries in a car accident at Jaranwala Road.

Rescue 1122 officials said that the accident occurred near Chak No 65, Adda Awagat on Jaranwala Road where a rashly driven car hit a parked trolley tractor.

As a result of the incident, Tariq, 28, was killed on the spot while Naveed, 30, Rashid, 22, Ehsan, 20, Rafaqat, 35, and Ihtisham, 24, sustained injuries.

The injured were shifted to a hospital where the condition of three of the victims was stated to be critical.
