
As hundreds of people streamed into the streets of the federal capital late at night to celebrate independence day, the police apprehended at least 17 people for carrying guns, drugs and alcohol.
A police spokesperson said that security had been enhanced in the city for August 14 celebrations on the directions of Islamabad Police Inspector General Aamir Zulfiqar Khan with special directions to crackdown on those involved in criminal activity.

In this regard, the Bhara Kahu police department apprehended two individuals, identified as Waqas and Tanveer, and recovered 20 cans of beer and a 30 bore pistol with ammunition from them.
Moreover, the Banigala police arrested Asif and recovered a knuckle duster from him. Similarly, the
Aabpara police arrested two people, identified as Bashir and Naveed, for illegally decanting fuel. The Golra police arrested Ziaur Rehman after recovering an unlicenced 30 bore pistol from him.
