Upcoming Bollywood film, Sadak 2, the sequel to the 90s cult classic of the same name has come under fire for plagiarising the work of Pakistani artist Shezan Saleem aka JO-G, reports Hindustan Times. JO-G who is the son of veteran musician and singer, Saleem Javaid, uploaded a video in which he compares a song played in the trailer with a composition of his released in 2011.

He wrote in a tweet, hours after the release of Sadak 2’s trailer, “What do we do about this. Copied from a song that I produced in Pakistan and launched in 2011. Let’s talk guys,” he tweeted as he shared the video.

“A trailer for a Bollywood movie called Sadak 2 has just been released, and there is a song in it called Ishq Kamaal,” he says in the video. “After listening to it, I realised that it sounds like a composition I had produced for a friend around 11 years ago. The friend’s name is Zaid Khan. I think they’ve copied it because not only the melody but the music is also very similar,” he continues. After playing the choruses of both songs, he asks, “What does the public have to say?”

People on social media lambasted the film for wronging the artist. Some told JO-G to file a case against the makers of the film.

"File a case against these bloody thieves. These people have no creative and no knowledge and they won’t allow a talented outsider to enter Bollywood," one person said. "This is the reality of Bollywood. Thanks for highlighting this. Please share your original song link here. It will be shared further. Theft of scripts and theft of lyrics and music is rampant here in Bollywood," another said.

Some accused the Bhatt family for being prolific in copying songs from across the border. "Bhatt family has been stealing Pakistani songs without giving the original composers any credit for 30 years. It's time we hold them accountable this time," someone said.

The song, JO-G produced for Khan is called Rabba Ho which was released some eight years ago. According to actor Pooja Bhatt, the song Ishq Kamaal was written by a music teacher from Chandigarh. “Sadak 2 gives birth to a brand new talent in the form of a music teacher from Chandigarh who came to our office with no prior appointment, a dream, a harmonium and a brilliant song called Ishq Kamaal that was absorbed into the film on first hearing by my father,” she had written on social media.
