Lahore police to curb hate speech

Lahore CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed held a meeting on Wednesday at his office with the officers of FIA Cybercrime Wing and PTA to devise strategy against sharing of hate content on social media platforms during Muharramul Haram. The meeting was attended by Lahore DIG Investigation Shahzada Sultan, Lahore DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, Cybercrime Additional Director Abuzar Sibtain, Deputy Director Waqas Saeed, PTA Legal Chief Rana Ashfaq, SSP CTD Mohiul Din and other officers concerned. The participants discussed strategy and means to control uploading of hate speech on social media platforms. On the occasion, the additional director said that FIA will send notices to such persons and the PTA legal chief said that PTA will close down such pages and channels. The CCPO ordered SP security to make personal file of the people uploading such content, conduct monitoring of social media platforms and share the details of violators on a daily basis. The participants of various departments agreed to conduct meeting on the issue regularly for better coordination and efficiency to control the spread of hate speech.
