Waqf Property Amendment Bill tabled in K-P Assembly

The provincial law minister on Monday tabled an amendment bill in the provincial assembly which will allow the district administration to oversee the maintenance of buildings owned by the Auqaf department in the province.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Law Minister Sultan Khan presented the K-P Waqf Property Amendment Bill 2020, in the assembly.

According to the draft bill, the government may appoint an assistant commissioner in any district as the deputy administrator for the property of the provincial Auqaf department.

Moreover, the amendment declares as mandatory to register any property as Waqf (protected), it must be registered with the chief administrator within 90 days.

Moreover, the house was told that the government has decided to pay a monthly stipend of Rs10,000 to preachers and prayer leaders of mosques in the province.

A summary in this regard has been sent to the chief minister for approval, the house was told. in this regard.

The issue was raised after MPA Humaira Khatoon posed a question in this regard.

Responding to her, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Muhammad Zahoor said that the government has decided to give an honorarium to preachers and imams of mosques.
