RAWALPINDI:

As the government lifts restrictions on domestic travel, the Police Training College in Sihala has resumed training courses from Friday.

The course which resumed on Friday included the second capacity-building course for ministerial staff comprising 38 students. Similarly, the fourth investigation course for investigation officers, with 89 students, also commenced on Friday.

Training at the police colleges in Rawalpindi and Lahore had ground to a halt in the wake of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. But with cases falling across the country and the government looking to reopen several sectors, courses are set to resume at these colleges under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the disease from spreading.

However, no new courses will commence at the colleges for the moment.

Last month, Punjab Training DIG Dr Suleman Sultan Rana, on behalf of Punjab Inspector General of Police, had written to the commandants of the police colleges in Lahore and Sihala and the Elite Police Training School in Lahore on resuming courses.

A first probationers training course for junior traffic wardens, with 51 students, is expected to commence from August 17, while a course for 205 personnel of the elite police training school in Lahore is expected to commence from August 10.
