Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) Director Dr Zahid Mahmood has advised the cotton growers to ensure pest scouting of cotton crops regularly for better yield.
In a press release issued on Thursday to spread awareness among growers about safety from insects, Mahmood said the safety of crops from pests was very important. He advised growers to continue pest scouting and apply spray in case of pest attack as per recommendations of CCRI experts or agriculture department.
“Removing weeds from the crop is also very important as it becomes the cause of insects staying in place,” he said. He also urged farmers to pay special attention to water and fertilisers for better nurturing of crops and remove all types of weeds.
Otherwise it would not be possible to control the weeds in case of rain. The growers were also advised to take better care of their crop as per recommendations of experts and warned that any negligence could decrease crop production.
