A Pakistan Navy chief petty officer, Arshad Hussain, was arrested on Thursday on charges of killing his 70-year-old mother, Fatima Bibi, at his house in Dalmia Naval Colony. According to the relevant authorities, Hussain had a row with Bibi on Thursday at around 6.30am, after she had an argument with his wife on making breakfast. In a rage, Hussain killed Bibi with an axe, the authorities claimed, adding that Bibi was rushed to a hospital following the incident but succumbed to her injuries on the way. According to the police, Hussain was initially detained by the Naval Police and later handed over to them for further interrogation. However, they added, he had given contradictory statements to both.
