RCB sanitation staff given prizes, certificates

They worked to clear over 4,000 tonnes of offals and entrails

The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) on Wednesday handed out prizes and commendation certificates amongst it sanitary staff for working to clear over 4,000 tonnes of offals and entrails and other animal waste from the cantonment areas of the city during Eidul Azha.

Cantonment Board President Brigadier Ijaz Qamar Kiani and Cantonment Executive Officer Umar Farooq Ali handed out the prizes and certificates to the sanitary workers in a ceremony on Wednesday.

Brig Kiani was told that 730 sanitary workers, under 23 supervisors and five sanitary inspectors, had removed over 4,000 tonnes of waste from the cantonment areas over three days.

The board used 122 vehicles including dumpers, tractor trolleys, pickups, compactors, trucks, excavators, with a large number of hand-carts to remove the garbage, entrails of animals and offal from all Cantonment areas. Further, Brig Kiani was told that the board received over 830 complaints at its control room during Eidul Azha which were addressed.

After removing the offals and entrails, they were buried in trenches along Chakri Road. All the Cantt areas were inspected by the senior officers including the RCB chief. All transfer stations were cleared, properly washed and then disinfected.
