Annual gala to go ahead despite covid

Despite the prevalence of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the National Institute of Cultural and Heritage - Lok Virsa has decided to press ahead with its Annual ‘Lok Mela’, under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

This was stated by the Lok Virsa Executive Director Talha Ali Kushvaha on Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview with APP, he said that the main purpose to arrange Lok Mela was to highlight the festivity, culture and colours of Pakistan by bringing together artisans, craftspeople and folk artists from all parts of the country.

He added that the mela and other cultural festivities were the main agenda of Lok Virsa, adding that the festival should be held as soon as possible, but with proper social distancing and strict SOPs.

Pointing to past Lok Melas, he said that the annual event will also feature dedicated pavilions for each province to highlight their culture through artisanal work, folk songs, dances, and crafts bazaar.
