The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) put all its relevant departments, including district branches, hospitals, ambulances, volunteers and disaster management staff on high alert on Wednesday ahead of the spell of monsoon rains expected from today (Thursday).

During a meeting with volunteers and staff to review the measures, PRCS provincial secretary Kanwar Waseem asked all relevant departments to be on standby in Karachi and other districts of Sindh.

“We have provided vehicles and emergency response material, including first aid kits, stretchers, emergency lights, raincoats, ropes and life-jackets to the staff,” he said, adding that PRCS hospitals had also been asked to stay prepared for an emergency.
