Work on new hospital begins in Pindi

The minister says that the extension of the hospital could be done in future

RAWALPINDI:

Work on a proposed 100-bed hospital in Rawalpindi has kicked off, Federal Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan confirmed to The Express Tribune on Monday. The minister told that around 93 Kanals land had been reserved for the healthcare facility, located at the entrance of the garrison city on Chakri Road. He added that the land has been procured and handed over by the Punjab government to the hospital. The Project Concept-I (PC-I) for the hospital, which shows that the hospital will cost Rs0.5 billion to build, had been approved last month, Ghulam said. The aviation minister further said that the construction of a new healthcare facility will help lessen the burden on allied hospitals. He asserted that the construction of the hospital will be completed within a year. Ghulam added that the new hospital will have five operation theatres, an outpatient department (OPD), and an emergency department. The minister said that the extension of the hospital could be done in future.
