Phased reopening of metro, restaurants soon

The premier will examine the latest situation of the coronavirus in the province

RAWALPINDI:

With Punjab recording the fewest number of new Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began, the provincial government has begun preparations to reopen the Metro Bus Service (MBS) and recreational sites such as restaurants and theatres in the city apart from wedding halls in a phase-wise manner this month.

All places will be reopened under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) from spreading, sources informed The Express Tribune on Monday.

They said that an important meeting in this regard is expected to be held this week which will be headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

During the meeting, the premier will examine the latest situation of the coronavirus in the province before taking any decision.

Sources further that the phase-wise relaxation is expected to commence in the current month.
