Politics is a game played by the powerful on the powerless: Shaan Shahid
Casualties, prolonged power breakdowns, overflowing drains and inundated streets with bumper-to-bumper traffic - following the forecast of monsoon rains and urban flooding in Karachi, these too were easy to foresee. Still, the authorities failed to take adequate steps to address these entirely predictable problems.
As the second spell of monsoon comes to an end, a lot more videos and pictures of the metropolitan city in shambles surfaced on social media. Citizens and celebs alike, hoped for better infrastructure and sadly, a drainage system. After Ayesha Omer, Ali Rehman Khan and Waseem Akram, popular actor Shaan Shahid has also spoken up about the issue that seems to have lasted perpetually long.
Taking to his Twitter on Wednesday, the Waar actor shared pictures of the city drowing as men crossed roads with their clothes and bikes floating in the water and an entire van nearly losing balance whilst a boy pushes it ahead.
He wrote, "#Khimatters. Politics is a game played by the powerful on the powerless. The suffering of the prople of Karachi should be felt and dealt with. No matter what political party we belong to humanity should always come first . #Polticsdivides #humanityunites"
Many users reciprocated similar sentiments in response to his tweet, adding that no one is willing to own Karachi eventhough everyone is willing to govern it.
