PESHAWAR:

Police on Monday recovered three bodies from an apartment from a Hayatabad residential building in the provincial capital.

Officials were called to the apartment by locals after a foul stench started emanating from the apartment.

Tatara police station officials said that when they arrived at the apartment, they found it locked from inside.

After breaking in, they found three people lying dead inside. They also recovered a pistol and bullets casings. They collected blood samples, closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage and other evidence while the bodies were shifted to the Khyber Medical College for a postmortem.

Peshawar Cantonment SP Hasan Jehangir said that initial investigations showed two of those found dead were brothers who hailed from Sindh and were identified as Naveed Soomro and Meema Soomro.

The official added that Meema was an Iranian national and that their parents live in Iran. The brothers dealt in the export and import of wood and frequently travelled to Iran and Afghanistan for business purposes.

SP Jehangir added that the third person found dead in the apartment was identified as Ziauddin, a resident of Landikotal tehsil of Khyber district. He is believed to be a friend of the brothers.

The official added that they are still investigating the matter and have not yet identified the motive behind the murders.
