Cabinet to take up 11-point agenda today

Cabinet would approve renewal of PIA charter licence and aerial work

ISLAMABAD:

A federal cabinet meeting on Tuesday (today) is expected to take up an 11-point agenda, including the approval of formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the recent fuel shortage in the country and consider the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision regarding the Navy Sailing Club.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the cabinet meeting. According to the agenda, the cabinet would approve the renewal of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) charter licence and aerial work. Besides, the meeting would also discuss the import of diesel and petrol as per Euro-V standard.

The federal cabinet would be given a briefing on arrears owed to the media houses as well as the economic indicators. A progress report of the institutional reforms would also be presented in the cabinet.

The approval of the appointment of the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Universal Service Fund Company is also on the agenda. A draft for the rules for the appointment of the chairman and members of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) would also be presented in the meeting.

A bill for the protection of house maids in Islamabad would also be presented for consideration of the cabinet. The ministers would also take stock of the prevailing pandemic, political and economic situations. The federal cabinet will ratify the decisions of the ECC’s July 22 meeting.
