Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) managing director Kashif Gulzar Shaikh has directed all the contractors to finalise the preparations for collecting garbage and excavation of trenches to dump animals' offal on Eidul Azha.
He held an emergency meeting on Sunday, where he asked the relevant officials about the details of the vehicles and machinery being used for the purpose.
The SSWMB chief also directed Chinese contractors and relevant officials to thoroughly clean all dustbins in the Karachi.
Besides, he instructed relevant officials to stay in constant contact with district and union council chairpersons and suggested they hold a meeting with local government department officials, elected representatives and other agencies to ensure relief to people on Eid.
He said that complaint centres had been established to assist citizens on Eidul Azha, while the SSWMB could also be contacted through WhatsApp on 0318-1030851.
Meanwhile, complaints in East and South districts could be lodged using the Kangjie Complaint mobile application, he added.
SSWMB operations executive director Tariq Nizamani, operation directors for landfill sites, other relevant deputy directors and Chinese and local contractors were present on the occasion.
