Pakistan reaffirms commitment to safeguard Saudi Arab's territorial integrity

FM Qureshi, Saudi counterpart discuss bilateral issues including Covid-19 pandemic over phone

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday held a telephonic conversation wih his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguard Kingdom’s territorial integrity.

Both the ministers agreed to continue their mutual consultation on important regional and bilateral issues including Covid-19 pandemic, reported Radio Pakistan.

“Pakistan will continue all possible cooperation in safeguarding territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia,” Qureshi was quoted as saying.

FM Qureshi inquired after the health of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who recently underwent a successful operation to remove his gallbladder, and prayed for his speedy recovery.

He apprised his Saudi counterpart of the effective measures taken by Pakistan to prevent the spread of the coronavirus including ‘Smart Lockdown’ policy under which authorities have sealed off hundreds of Covid-19 hotspots across the country.

Prime Minister Imran Khan's smart lockdown strategy has not only reduced the spread of pandemic, but also significantly declined the death rate in the country, Qureshi added.

Prince Faisal informed that coronavirus situation is also improving in the Kingdom.

FM Qureshi strongly condemned the recent missile attacks by the militias on Saudi defence installations and expressed solidarity with the Saudi government and people on behalf of Pakistan.

The two foreign ministers also discussed the forthcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
