PESHAWAR:

Several shepherds and livestock traders in Mardan were penalised on Saturday after they were found defying the standard operating procedures (SOPs) prescribed by the government to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the region.

The Takht-e-Bahai Additional Assistant Commissioner Farman Ali on Saturday visited various legal and illegal cattle markets in the Shergarh and Jalala areas of the tehsil to ensure that Covid-19 SOPs are being followed.

Action was also taken against all unregistered markets and their livestock was shifted to the registered cattle markets and instructions were issued that only registered markets which follow SOPs related to the pandemic shall be allowed to operate.

While inspecting public transport, the AAC issued warnings to those defying the SOPs while some were also fined.
