RAWALPINDI:

A 22-day-old child died after an improperly performed circumcision caused the boy to bleed to death.

The boy’s father, Mohammad Jamal, told the Jatli police station that he took his child to a local clinic for circumcision.

The doctor on duty circumcised the child and bandaged the baby and discharged them. However, the baby continued to bleed.

“When I called the doctor in the evening, he said that the clinic was closed and told me the name of a lady doctor at another hospital and asked me to take the child to this doctor and asked her to talk to him on the phone,” said Jamal, a farmer.

Jamal followed the doctor’s instruction and took his boy to the lady doctor who applied ten stitches apart from administering an injection to stop the bleeding.

Jamal took the baby home after the procedure. The next morning, he took the baby to the doctor’s clinic again, who told him to take the baby to the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) immediately.

Jamal rushed to HFH, where doctors declared the baby as severely anaemic and asked for immediate blood transfusions. Jamal was in the process of finalising all arrangements when his son died.
