The top civic official of the federal capital on Friday directed to complete work on an interchange between Sectors G-7 and G-8 on Faisal Avenue by September.
This was directed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration Chief Commissioner Aamir Ali Ahmed on Friday as he inspected the construction of the underpass.
During a briefing, Ahmed was told that 80 per cent of work on the project has been completed including the structural work, while roof slabs have been cast. Roads on both sides of the underpass are currently being constructed at a fast pace.
After removing shuttering of the underpass, the road crossing of the Fasial Avenue from the top of the underpass will be completed in four weeks.
Ahmed directed to carry out soft landscaping on median strips and side slopes of the underpass. Instructions were further issued to install proper road signage for facilitating commuters using this road.
Excavation for Sector G-7 underpass starts
Instructions were further issued to complete the project by the end of August.
Construction of the underpass on Faisal Avenue has been pending for a while and was needed to solve the problems faced by commuters travelling between the two sectors apart from improving the flow of traffic on Faisal Avenue.
The Faisal Avenue underpass project had been approved in 2015, but work could not begin. Last year, after completing all codal formalities.
