'Green selfie' option introduced in tiger force application
CRTF volunteers will set a record by planting one million saplings in a day, says PM's aide
The government has introduced a ‘green selfie’ feature in the Corona Tiger Relief Force (CRTF) application to enable the volunteers to upload their photos while carrying out the plantation drive across the country.
“The volunteers of tiger force will set a record by planting one million saplings in a day,” according to a statement issued by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Friday.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had formed the CRTF in March following Covid-19 outbreak in the country to aid the civil administration to carry out coronavirus related activities.
Later on, it was assigned additional duties related to tree plantation drive, anti-dengue and anti-polio campaigns, locust surveillance, traffic management, flood prevention and control, and other issues that require more human resource.
According to the PM's aide, the force consists of over 600,000 volunteers who he said had effectively performed duties at the quarantine centres, field hospitals, mosques and other places to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined for Covid-19 pandemic prevention.
The statement said the government had begun preparations for the ‘Tiger Force Day’, which is expected to be celebrated after Eidul Azha.
He would also meet PM Imran soon to discuss role of the volunteers in plantation of 10 million saplings.
Earlier, Dar held a meeting with SAPM on Climate Change Amin Aslam and senior officers of the Punjab government to discuss the strategy for ‘Tiger Force Day’ and plantation drive.
