RAWALPINDI:

With rumours of rifts in the provincial government once again doing the rounds, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Thursday assured that propagandists will fail, as in the past even as he launched an application and promised development projects for the district.

During a visit to Rawalpindi on Thursday, Buzdar met with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPAs from the city in a delegation led by the party’s chief organiser for Rawalpindi Saifullah Niazi.

Addressing talk of rifts in the party, Buzdar said that all those spreading rumours will be unsuccessful, just like in the past.

He added that they will answer the spate of negative politics, particularly from opposition pirates, through better public service.

Cops to be hired

During his visit to the Nullah Leh at Rialto Chowk spot to inspect cleanliness activities there, Buzdar said that they will hire as many as 10,000 cops across the province to address the shortage of staff in the police department. He added that as many as 45 new police stations will also be established across the province.

Regarding the Nullah Leh Expressway project, the chief minister said it was the right of the residents of Rawalpindi, adding that the construction of the expressway will help control flooding in the water body.

He also planted a sapling under the monsoon plantation drive in the greenbelt on Railto Chowk.

Buzdar also promised a massive plantation drive along both sides of the expressway.

Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed thanked Buzdar for timely support for desilting Nullah Leh.
